Speech Language Therapy

Practical communication support

Speech

When sounds are tricky to produce it can make communication harder. We work together to build clearer speech. I support children with articulation challenges through playful engaging activities that makes practicing sounds fun and effective.

Because speech sounds are the building blocks of both speaking and reading, this work naturally connects to phonological awareness and literacy development. When children can clearly produce sounds in speech, they’re better able to hear and manipulate those same sounds in words essential skills for decoding and spelling.

Sessions are tailored to each child’s unique needs using games, stories and activities that make practice feel like play.

Language skills

Strong language skills open doors to learning, friendships and self expression. I help children develop their understanding and use of language across all areas. From vocabulary and grammar to following directions, telling stories and expressing ideas. Whether your child needs support with comprehension, sentence building or organising their thoughts we’ll work collaboratively on meaningful goals that support their success at school, home and in your communities.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

Every child deserves a voice that works for them. AAC systems provide vital support for children who are non speaking or have limited verbal communication, offering pathways to express themselves through picture based communication and speech generating apps/devices.

As a CAT1 (Communication Assistive Technology Level 1) accredited therapist I have the ability to provide AAC assessments, write the required report and submit funding applications to Enable NZ.
